FREE TIME

There are tennis, football, basketball, bowls and bowling facilities, a swimming pool, a roller skating rink, a riding school, and an open-air summer dance area which provide an entertaining holiday or fun weekend. One of the biggest attractions is the beautiful G. Leopardi Gardens with its variety of plants and flowers and play areas for children.
It is a place that should not be missed. There are many footpaths which can be reached on foot or by mountain bike.

LOCAL FOOD AND WINES

Locally produced wines include DOC Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi, Rosso Piceno, and red and white table wines. There are also many natural and wholesome products such as honey, cheese and salami. The cakes and pastries worth trying are local "calcioni", "ciambelle", "pizza di formaggio", "frittellone", "biscotti di mosto". Local cooking is also very good.

FESTIVITIES

Carnival - It is a characteristic festival held in Piazza Garibaldi, the main square, where you can taste vin-brule (mulled wine) and typical cakes, castagnole, frappe and cicerchiata.
1st May - The traditional festival of mountain asparagus held in Avacelli.
8th June - The feast of the patron saint S. Medardo with a big country fair.
Summer Mounts - Musical shows, plays, films, exhibitions and various games and concerts.
15th Agust - Grand Gala in the G. Leopardi Gardens.
Wine Festival - Since 1930 the last weekend in September has been an important date for the town with gastronomies stands, concerts, crafts stalls and the traditional parade of floats.
Autumn Festival - To celebrate S. Martino there is a festival of chestnuts and wine in the charming setting of Piticchio.
Christmas - Concert by the "L. Filippini" philarmonic orchestra, games, films and exhibitions.

At 25 km., the archeological excavations of ancient roman town of Suasa. 32 km. away, the medieval town of Fabriano, with its unique Paper and Filigree Museum testimony to its history. 38 km. away is Senigallia with its beautiful "velvet beach" and fortress, Rocca Roveresca. 38 km. away is Jesi, rich in works of art and the birthplace of Federick II of Swabia. 40 km. away is Monte Catria with its spectacular panorama stretching from San Marino to Gran Sasso and Lake Trasimeno.
