Arcevia was inhabited in prehistoric times, testimony of this are the numerous and important archaeological sites to be found in the area including a moat from the Copper Age in the Conelle area, ruins from the Bronze Age Xlc. B.C. on Mount Croce-Guardia, in Montefortino a large necropolis from the 111/lc. B.C. relicts of which can be found here, in the National Archeological Museum of Ancona, or Museum of NewYork.
